Toyama Works

Toyama Works is the research and production center for Toyama Chemical, which incorporates both the Laboratories that study pharmaceutical products and the Factory that manufactures them on the same premises.

Taking advantage of this benefit, the research and production divisions cooperate to efficiently preparation for industrial manufacturing process, mass-produce outstanding medicines desired by the whole world.

Laboratories

The Laboratories conduct research and development in three main fields of anti-infective agents, which are CNS, cardiovascular agents, and anti-inflammatory agents.

Research Laboratories consist of a synthesis/efficacy evaluation department, pharmacokinetics, safety, analysis, and preparation technology departments. These departments participate in research at early stages, thereby reinforcing mutual cooperation among the departments. In addition, Discovery Laboratories were established in April 2001 to reinforce the organization to produce creative seeds in new drug research.

We are undertaking joint research collaborations with domestic and foreign universities to speed the development of new drugs to “Contribute to the further development of global health care through new drug development” as our stated management objective.

Factory

The Factory mainly manufactures pharmaceutical ingredients for newly developed in-house drugs to final products.

Antibacterial agents, injectable penicillin, internal medicine cephem, and general internal medicines are manufactured and finally packaged in independent buildings, respectively. In particular, the general internal medicine plant integrated with a three-dimensional automated warehouse is highly automated by unmanned transportation.

To realize the stable production of high-quality products, we implement a cGMP-compliant quality control system and manufacture using a production control system to develop distinctive production facilities.
